General Board Rules
» Spamming
This is defined as short, pointless posts without substance.

This is especially policed in the Creative boards as well as the The Recent Page and Pandect Pandect Talk. Posts in these boards *must* have substance.

In FCs spam is also defined as short posts begging for signatures of a club charter as well as posts that advertise your fanclub but are in a place they do not belong, such as a fanfiction thread. An offending post will be immediately deleted followed by a PM notification.

Top

» Necroposting
This is defined as resurrecting a thread not on the first page. To avoid this, the moderator in charge of the board will lock threads that have been pushed back to page 2.

The boards exempt from this rule are the Pandect Candies and Anime and Manga, and all the fanclubs/socks, however we of the moderator team strongly discourage reviving several threads at once in these boards. Should we find that a member have taken advantage of these exceptions to revive an inappropriate number of threads a PM notification will be sent.

Top

» Leetspeak/Chatspeak
In general, this means use of incomprehensible language, such as leetspeak or excessive chatspeak, consistently and over many posts.

Such styles of typing make it hard on the folks here to whom English is a second language. Deliberate lapses for the sake of humor are fine, provided that they do not get excessive. Excessive use will merit a PM notification.

Top

» Spoilers
Some people *really* hate being spoiled. Please respect their wishes and only post spoilers in the Hall Monitor's Lounge board. Failure to do so will result in the move of your post to the correct board and a PM notification will be sent.

Top

» Avatar and signatures
Avatar and signature size limits to make it easier for users with slow connections or even (the horror) dial-up. The limits are 200 KB for avatars and 500 KB for signatures. Additionally NSFWness is not allowed in avatars or signatures (unless you put it under a spoiler tag).

Top

» Usernames and display names
Username/display name related rules. You cannot have a username nor a display name that contains one or more of the following: spoilers, NSFW material, discrimination/racial slurs. Duplicate names (= names are the same or seemingly the same as someone else's) are forbidden.

If you're caught for breaking this rule, you will receive one minor warning every day for three days. If you fail comply to a moderator's request to change your name during those three days, you will receive a warning (see below) and

* in case of a display name offence your name will be changed for you by an admin.
* in case of a username offence your name will be changed for you by an admin and that admin will email you your new username (to the address you've registered with). You cannot log in unless you're aware of your username. For these cases we recommend you have the email notification option checked in your UCP.

Top

» Harassment
This is defined as hateful behavior and language towards another user in an attempt to make their experience at the forum a miserable one.

Most of these cases can be headed off by having people make use of the Foe button, which acts as a sort of ignore list. If a user continues to harass another user beyond the use of the foe button (as foes can still use PMs), that user will be Warned. See the FAQ for more information about Warnings.

Top

» NSFW
Some users are here from their work computer, or school computer. Other users are in a public internet cafe. Still more users are minors who are not allowed to look at adult content.

*Mature* and *NSFW* warnings save all of these people from getting in trouble or getting embarrassed. Failure to flag something as NSFW will result in a Warning. Please see the The Lexicon for more info on Warnings. NSFW means any sexually suggestive poses, suggestive states of undress, or groping.

Top

» Mod Abuse
Our moderators are our watchdogs and they maintain and promote the boards they are assigned to. They work very hard to make sure your experience at the forum is a good one.

Abusing a moderator while they are trying to work with you, whether that be PMing you a notification or trying to mediate a forum fight you are involved in, will net you a warning. See the The Lexicon for more information on Warnings.

Top

» Trolling
Trolling, defined as behavior intended to instigate a forum fight or incite other forumers in any way. Textual harm of the Pandect characters falls under the definition of trolling and will net you a Warning. Walking into the Rufus fanclub and making a post about how much he sucks is trolling.

Expression of dislike of a character is fine, even posting it in the fanclub provided that there is discussion worth having in your post and you express it tactfully, as opposed to one big flame. But you must be civil, or else you will be Warned. Deliberately spoiling something for another user/users who has expressly asked not to be spoiled also counts as trolling.

Top

» Plagiarism
Plagarism in any form, be it plagarizing in a fanwork or in a contest. This includes tracing in fanwork without citing a source image. These warrant fewer Warnings.

The first offense, the offending material will be removed, and if it is a contest, the offender will be disqualified. If they refuse to own up to it, they will further be banned from participating in any contest for three months.

On a second offense, they will be brought to the Brig to discuss a possible perma-ban.

Fanclub/Sock Rules
» No spoilers outside of the club
If you get spoilers inside of the club, this is a treat!

But please don't go spreading it around outside of your club, and especially don't go talking about the spoiler outside of the club without spoiler tags. If Dina gives your club a spoiler, it's *for your club*. Please keep it that way.

Fanclub Leader Rules
» Club Selectivity
Leaders can't change the selectivity of their club without petitioning the moderator team, plain and simple.

All ship clubs and all official fanclubs MUST be freely open always, to the end of time; but as the forum gets older, Leaders may begin to offer clubs that require approval before entry. In order to gain this, the moderators must be petitioned. Attempts to go around or above the mods will merit a Warning.

Closing a group that is not otherwise required to be closed (closed groups are such as the Editors, or the Mods on Hiatus which are closed for quite obvious and necessary reasons but are not actual fanclubs), will also merit a Warning on the same reasoning. We will not be allowing closed fanclubs to form on this board.

Top

» Standards
When a club is open and mildly selective, (for example the Welcoming Committee, which requires Regular Ace or above rank to join) standards must remain low and above all meritocratic.

Basically, it should not take more than a reasonable amount of effort for someone with an outside-of-the-internet life to get in. Failure in Leaders to comply with this rule will result in a Warning. The moderators have the right to use their best judgment to decide what a "reasonable effort" is.

Top

» Grudges and User Denial Info
Users who are denied to selective clubs when they are finally allowed to form will be allowed to ask about their denials and are entitled to full information detailing why they have been rejected.

Any Leader who refuses to provide this information can be reported and subsequently Warned. This is to prevent Leaders from allowing grudges to keep other users out of clubs they lead.

Top

» Power Abuse
Any fanclub Leader reported as abusing their moderator powers and authority to harass members and/or prospective members of their club will be Warned and subject to an inquiry and possible demotion on second offenses.
